What is it?
Imagine an interactive arts festival that could explore an alternative future in virtual and augmented reality across Camden. It's an opportunity to make big ideas tangible and to promote discussions on their impact in the community.
Why is it useful?
In order to create a better future, we must first be able to collectively imagine it. As a community, we could create stories, narratives and characters in mixed-reality, enabling everyone to explore the possible futures of the places around them – a democracy of dreams for Camden.
The festival could be used to assess the implications of new digital and dynamic public space regulations and distributed civic governance. It could create a platform for important discussions on virtual public space usage rights and ethics, as well as experimentation with micro-payments, public liability insurance and virtual authorship.

- Local artists & technologists
- Schools & further education institutions in Camden
- Arts Council England
- Camden Council & Camden Citizens' Assembly
- Public events organisers & partner businesses
Where do we start?
- Host a workshop with community stakeholders to identify purpose, themes and scope of the festival.
- Run an open call for contributors who want to experiment with digital art in public space.
- Hold a democratic selection process for ideas to take forward and incorporate into the festival.
- Assemble a team of partners to develop the festival programme, virtual art and technology required to run festival.

- What rights do/should people have in virtual public spaces?
- How do we translate these rights into policy and could they be enforced?
- How do we ensure virtual installations remain accessible and avoid this (virtual pollution)?
